 Children's Ministry

by Chan Mei Kam and supported by Dawn Ang

Children are a good reminder to be humble because as an adult, I can also learn from them.

I like to have fun and I work with children because of their love for fun. Imparting Godly values to children is helpful in grooming and nurturing them from a very young age. I’m convicted by what the Bible says – train and instruct the children from a young age so that they will not depart from godly ways.

My vision for Shekinah Joy Church kids is that they grow in godliness and Christ-like character. I want our kids to always look out for the good of others and influence them for Christ. Also, I’d like see every teacher lead and initiate godly behavior in the children. We’ve good Sunday school teachers who simply love children. At Shekinah Joy Church, all our teachers treat children belonging to other parents with understanding.

What do I want Shekinah Joy Church children to remember me for? That I care for them!

Youth Ministry

by Dawn And and supervised by Margaret Phan

I believe in discipling with God’s love. I desire to build tomorrow’s leaders by mentoring

today’s youngsters. Someday, I hope they’ll disciple others.

The youth are always full of ideas and creativity. If they are properly grounded in godly values and guided in the right direction, they can be a tremendous blessing!

In youth ministry, we build relationships. It’s a place where the teens learn godly values, share their “up and down” moments, encourage and help each other. At each meeting, every teen takes charge of different responsibilities: do the ice-breaker, lead in Christian songs and share insights from his/her bible reading. We always pray for each other – it allows us to see God at work in our lives. I want them to build strong friendships so that they can support one another even when they become adults.

It’s always such a joy watching them grow stronger in their faith. During one Chiang Mai mission, they took on new roles – planned the ice-breaker, cooked a meal, guide the morning devotion (discuss God’s word) and put up a music concert. All these are opportunities that help them mature as Christians.

Worship Ministry

by Tee B. C. and assisted by Jonathan Wee.

Worship on Sunday in the church is more than just singing and making music; it's not about selecting a genre or style; it's more than using old or new songs. It is not about performance on stage. It is but a part of a larger picture of what worship is supposed to be.

In Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship.

The core of worship is about living a life fully dedicated to God and becoming like Jesus - This is made possible because of the mercy of God. Worship through songs is just a mean to an end, an expression of our heart's devotion unto Him. When we join our hearts in making melodies unto the Lord as a body of Christ, we are ushered into His mighty presence by His mercy and His grace.

The marks of a true worshipper is humility and a desire to develop an intimacy with God, outflowing from an offered life of sacrifice, bringing glory and pleasure to Him. It is my prayer that the worshippers at Shekinah Joy Church continue to grow towards becoming a true worshipper every moment of our life.

Hospitality Ministry

by Nancy Tay and supervised by Robert Low

‘Hello, God bless you.’

“您好,上帝祝福您。 ”

“Saluton, Dio benu vin”

「こんにちは、神はあなたを祝福」

“Sawubona, uNkulunkulu akubusise”

' 안녕하세요 , 하나님은 당신 을 축복 '

As Team Hospitality, we’re the heart of the church. It’s our duty to serve others. It’s more than ushering. Every Sunday, we welcome everybody with a sincere greeting – a warm handshake, a smile, or a few positive words like ‘God bless you’ can help make you comfortable. We believe and know that it can brighten your day. It’s our way of saying ‘Have a blessed service’… and to enjoy the rest of the day. We want to be friendly, warm and sincere.

We want to bless everybody – even at the end of the service – because we’d like to see you come back again. After your first visit, there’s a monthly gathering so that we can chit-chat and get to know you better.

Locally

In Singapore, we have organized coastal cleanup at Sungei Buloh, trained under Paisano to conduct sessions with the help of horses for character building and therapeutic purposes. On a lighter note, we have also organized eat-out sessions patronizing eating places set up by Social enterprise that benefits the society.
