To Become Followers of Christ Through His Word and Share His Love to Others

Our Mission –

Love God, love people, and make Disciples of Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit. To serve society and to reach out to the nations. (Matt 22:37-39, 28:19-20, Luke 14:27, Mark 8:34-36, Acts 1:8)

Leadership: Raise leaders who bears the character and godliness of Christ.

Discipleship: Programmes are designed for people. Not people for programme! To put it simply, programmes are the means to an end but not the end.

Global Mission: We ask ourselves “What is mission?” We want to be like a magnifying glass in the mission field. Mission is about extending God’s love to a people in a land where He has sent us. We’ll focus on specific locations and keep going back to continue our work. It’s like holding a magnifying glass over an object until a fire sparks! This is what we want to achieve – to create an impact that will be deep. When lives are transformed, we’ll know that we’ve made an impact. This is why we regard ourselves as ‘Impacters” –   called to be the ‘salt’ and ‘light’.

Vision

A church that continually seeks Jesus, loves Him and one that guards His Name. One where the leaders do not play ‘god’ but truly love Christ and love one another. Our desire is to groom generation after generation of Christ followers who role-model this simple but powerful truth: “Love the LORD. Love One Another.”

Psalms 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

This path of life – the highest form of life found in heaven – at God’s right hand, is a place of honour for saints. It is right here, in God’s presence, that Christians will be able to experience pleasures evermore – happiness eternal. But it’s not the happiness that’s limited to our time here on earth. Rather King David, the psalm’s author refers to it as joy unspeakable, blessed of God. A joy that has no end!

To stay on this path of life, the key is: Follow well!

We must constantly seek God’s face and walk in His presence. It is here in God’s Shekinah glory that we can experience true joy.

Church Covenant –

1.    Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and on profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

2.    We pledge to endeavour to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves (Luke 10:27)

3.    We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of the Church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its welfare and spirituality; to sustain its worship ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to support the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

4.    We understand that we are all one in the Body of Christ and therefore our combined role is to build God’s Kingdom and not ours. Thus we will guard our hearts against selfish ambition, insecurity, critical spirit and jealousy and will always prefer others above ourselves.

5.    We also pledge to maintain family and personal devotion; to train our children in godly ways, to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, drunkenness and excessive anger and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Saviour.

6.    We further pledge to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech, to be slow to take offence, but always ready for reconciliation.

7.    We pledge that we will love and submit to the leadership in their effort to lead the Church in the ways of the Lord, unless there is any contrary to the word of God and when the leader is asking us to act in an ungodly manner.

8.    We also pledge that we will faithfully uphold the Church Constitution, policies and decisions of the Church, and we will be present at all General Meetings to vote our conviction.

9.    We also pledge, upon the sufficiency of God, to tithe 10% of our income and give faithfully to God’s work at Shekinah Joy Church.

Our Belief…

We declare that Jesus Christ is our personal Saviour; and we willingly and enthusiastically identify ourselves with Him and His Gospel.

We shall endeavour to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our strength and with all our minds and to love our neighbours as ourselves (Luke 10:27)

We shall seek to love and support one another at Shekinah Joy Church especially the leaders.

By the grace of God, we will give of ourselves in whatever ways possible through our giftings and financial ability for the expansion of His Kingdom of God through the Church.

We understand that we are all one in the Body of Christ. Our combined role is to build God’s Kingdom and not ours. Therefore we shall guard our hearts against selfish ambition, insecurity, critical spirit and jealousy and always prefer others above ourselves.

We shall seek to be the salt and light of this world so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed in words and in deeds throughout our lives.

We shall abide by the Constitution of Shekinah Joy Church.
